Rome/Geneva, July 14 2016 – Today, digital data is both our most valuable asset, and the one at most risk, as is daily confirmed. In a totally unexpected manner, Bulgari has licensed WISeKey International Holding Ltd (WIHN.SW) ("WISeKey"), the world-leading Swiss eSecurity company, to develop and offer on the market the BVLGARI VAULT: a mobile app for secure storage of all kinds of personal data. Available from today, the application is a customized version of WISeKey’s top ranking application WISeID, featuring unique BVLGARI layout, colours and design, and can be downloaded from Google Store and the Apple App Store.
Bulgari is the only luxury brand to connect the world of high added value luxury products with the digital reality of today. Over and above the debate around so-called connected "wrist objects", the true main issue that technological evolution applied to watches will need to address in the future is that of the protection of digital data and its total security. In its own inimitable manner, outside existing norms and prevailing conformism, Bulgari with the BVLGARI Vault has taken a first step to bridge the gap between BVLGARI’s world of craftsmanship and the digital world of BVLGARI clients and brand lovers.
The intuitive functioning of the application enables users to secure their data with ease. As soon as the information is uploaded to the application, it is instantly encrypted thanks to a highly advanced technology developed by WISeKey, unquestionably an industry leader in this area. The user can also archive and synchronise data on a "cloud" which are then physically stored in a bunker buried in the Swiss Alps. During data transfer on the internet, when the risk of hacking is at its highest, WISeKey’s encryption technology achieves an unprecedented "asymmetrical" level customarily used by government agencies.
This 21st century application is intended for a broad range of users, since it is fully public and consequently open to all. Nonetheless, the BVLGARI VAULT also naturally targets a more select circle of consumers: clients and fans of the Maison who will in the future discover personalised services directly related to the brand and its services and products which may include after-sales related services, certificate of authenticity, activation of the warranty, etc.
WISeKey has pushed the development of its concept to an extremely high level by expanding the access keys to the Vault through various fields which may be combined for additional security: the use of a password but also through fingerprint recognition, facial recognition as well as a four-point gesture connection to link together via the touch screen of a mobile phone.
"At Bvlgari we strive to be on the edge of understanding and anticipating luxury experiences. The 4th industrial revolution will inevitably modify our relationship with luxury. This is why offering to our exigent customers an intelligent solution to protect their virtual patrimony, thanks to the leading technology of our partners from WISeKey, is a moment of pride and an enriching innovative experience for us" commented Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of the BVLGARI Group.
"This is a new milestone on our cooperation with Bulgari to provide customers safer and more reliable mobile communications and transactions with a cyber-resilience edition BVLGARI Vault App that locks personal data such as account usernames and passwords, credit card numbers and access PINs into a secure personal data organizer, creating accountable identities for online activity while the data itself remains protected in a secure cloud vault. Mobile security threats are increasing in number and sophistication, with hackers looking for ways to hijack mobiles for Bitcoin mining, or to trick mobile users into giving up their personal identity and bank account information. Even though mobile operating systems provide app developers with significant security features, hackers have still been able to exploit the massive installed base of Android and iOS devices, using many different infection vectors to place malware" said Carlos Moreira Founder and CEO WISeKey.
The storage functions provided by the application are potentially as vast as the digital universe can be with regard to data: various codes, as well as credit cards, documents (including travel documents), secure message sending, scanned signature, etc. Entering data is intuitive and easy, such as by using files linked to the most currently used internet platforms, a secure internet browser as well as an integrated credit card scanner.
Aside from the platforms on which the application can be downloaded, the latter is also accessible on the website specifically dedicated to it: https://www.bulgarivault.com.
Download the BVLGARI Vault mobile app directly on Apple Store and GooglePlay.
WISeKey (SIX Swiss Exchange: WIHN) is a leading cybersecurity company and selected as a World Economic Forum Global Growth Company. WISeKey is currently deploying large scale Internet of Things ("IoT") digital identity ecosystems and has become a pioneer of the "4th Industrial Revolution" movement launched this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos. WISeKey’s Swiss based cryptographic Root of Trust ("RoT") integrates wearable technology with secure authentication and identification, in both physical and virtual environments, and empowers IoT and wearable devices to become secure transactional devices. The RoT serves as a common trust anchor, which is recognized by the operating system and applications, to ensure the authenticity, confidentiality and integrity of on-line transactions. With the cryptographic RoT embedded on the device, the IoT product manufacturers can use code-signing certificates and a cloud-based signature as a service to secure interactions among objects and between objects and people. WISeKey has patented this process in the USA as it is currently used by many IoT providers.
